Rev. Dr. Lloyd T. McGriff, Senior Pastor

REV. DR. LLOYD T. MCGRIFF is the Senior Pastor of the 2000-member Galilee Baptist
Church (One Church in Two Locations – Suitland, Maryland and Southeast Washington, DC).
Galilee has three Worship Services on Sunday; 7:30 and 11:00 a.m. in Maryland and 9:00 a.m.
in the District of Columbia. Galilee’s theme, “Determined To Grow For Christ,” places
emphasis on “Worship (Loving God), Evangelism (Loving Others) and Discipleship (Loving the Word).”


Pastor McGriff was licensed and ordained at the St. Paul Baptist Church in Winnsboro, South Carolina. He received his BA degree from Howard University, a Masters of Divinity degree
from the Interdenominational Center at Morehouse School of Religion, and Doctorate of
Ministry degree from the United Theological Seminary in Dayton, Ohio.

 

Pastor McGriff believes that ministry should impact the community. He has served as
Instructor for following: the Congress for the National Baptist Convention USA, Inc., the
Maryland United Missionary Baptist Convention’s Congress on Christian Education and the
Virginia Union University Evan-Smith Leadership Training Institute. He also served as a
board member with the Urban League of Greater Washington, D.C.; the American Red Cross,
Prince Georges’ County Maryland; he is a graduate of the Harvard University Summer
Leadership Institute, and Leadership Price Georges (Inc.) and authored the book “Aaron--Mt.
Olive’s Mouthpiece.” Pastor McGriff was featured in Gospel Today magazine as one of
“America’s Most Loved Pastors” and is listed in “Who’s Who In Executives and Professionals.”
Pastor McGriff was a nominee for the Radio One “Prestige Award,” and recipient of the 2019
Morehouse School of Religion Award for Excellence in Religion. He is a Life Member of Alpha
Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. and a Life Member of The Greater Washington Urban League.
In 2003, under Pastor McGriff’s leadership, the church formulated the Galilee Community
Development Corporation (GCDC), to assist those in need of food and clothing. The GCDC has
assisted over 100,000 people since its inception.

 

Galilee has secured 50 acres of land in Upper Marlboro, Maryland where a new worship
center will be constructed. Their theme for the campaign is “Building By Faith – Expanding
for the Future.”

 

Dr. McGriff is married to the former Monica Mackley of Alexandria, Virginia and they are the
parents of three sons – Lloyd Trevar, Aaron Joseph, and Johnathan Paul.
