Our First Lady
Monica S. McGriff, a native of Alexandria, Virginia, received a B.S. degree in Systems Engineering from the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Virginia in 1986 and a Master of Engineering Administration from George Washington University in Washington, D.C. in 1989. Her academic background inspired a career which includes 14 years in engineering management in the Federal Government and non-profit sector; all before taking on her most challenging career, that of being a mother to three young boys.
Over the years, Monica has served in the church as an instructor in the Church School, Bible Study, and New Members’ Ministry, which include persons of all ages. She has also served as an Assistant Church School Superintendent. She initiated and developed a nursery ministry as well as Christian education courses and organizations within the church. She considers herself blessed to have had the opportunity to conduct personal development workshops and seminars for youth and adults and has been a guest speaker at various church and community events. She has a passion for making a difference in the lives of young people, and through her sorority, community, and church organizations, she has mentored pre-teen and teenage girls. She has a strong desire to encourage people who are hurting and who are lost by sharing the Word of God with them.
Monica is blessed to be married to the Reverend Dr. Lloyd T. McGriff, Senior Pastor of the Galilee Baptist Church located in Suitland, Maryland and Washington, D.C. She and her husband are the proud parents of three active boys, Lloyd Trevar, II , Aaron Joseph, and Johnathan Paul. She often states, “To God be the glory for the great things He has done.”
